Often called the 640-863 test Serengeti of South America, the Llanos ecosystem stretches across Southwestern, Venezuela and Eastern Columbia and is home to the largest concentrations of wildlife outside the Amazonian ecosystem. Although still thinly populated, the llanos area has been subject to extensive agriculture for centuries. There are large functioning cattle ranches with thousands of head of livestock roaming across vast expanses of flat plains cut by innumerable rivers and streams. They share this landscape with millions of birds, larger mammals, and a rich variety of other life forms. Livestock on these vast plains normally spread out; creating enough room to share with 350-030 study guide native wildlife. This rich tapestry of life is being threatened by changing agricultural practices, poaching, and the oil drilling/exploration industry. Venezuela has a well-developed system of national parks but only one, Cinaruco-Capanaparo, protects some of the unique Llanos environment. Private eco-ranches like El Frio provide income and employment to the local economy, preserve traditional ways of life, and conserve prime examples of  the rich environment of the Llanos in its natural state.
